Alfred Cervantes
As the Executive Director of the Houston Film Commission and a native Houstonian, Alfred Cervantes has worked in the Texas film industry since 1992. As freelance crew, he has contributed to films such as Reality Bites, The Chase, Jason's Lyric, Powder, Apollo 13, and several independent features. In his role with the Houston Film Commission, he promotes the Houston area to film producers, scouts locations, and facilitates each production’s local filming experience.
Recognized as the 2017 TXMPA Person of the Year and recipient of the 2013 “Only in Houston” Award, Alfred leads initiatives that drive measurable growth for the region’s film industry. In 2024, productions supported by the Commission generated $27.1 million in direct spending, a 140 percent increase from the prior year, and delivered an $81 million economic impact, the highest in more than seven years.
